If you’re looking for a rustic dining table, it’s important to consider the quality of the timber used. At Abacus Tables, we buy our oak in whole trees and
process the timbers ourselves.
It’s important to remember that many manufacturers do not follow this scrupulous process. As such, you will likely come across many cheap rustic dining tables, which may seem like a potential alternative. However, while some of these can still boast impressive knots and grain patterns, they are far more likely to twist and warp. As a result, the cheap, low-quality versions rarely stand the test of time. Conversely, a rustic dining table from Abacus will become an impressive centerpiece in your home that lasts a lifetime.

At Abacus Tables, we specialise in large rustic dining tables. As all our tables are made to measure, we can virtually go up to any size. If you’re wondering how big your table should be, we have size guides available based on how many people you would like your rustic table to seat. As well as the custom dimensions, the base design can also determine how many people you can seat around your table. For example, many central base designs allow you to fit more chairs around the table. These designs are not only practical but also visually stunning.
Customising the size and style of your table ensures you end up with a beautiful centrepiece that is truly unique to you and also the perfect fit for your home.
We offer carefully selected dining chairs to complement the style of our rustic tables. To make sure your table is sized correctly to accommodate all diners, it’s important to consider both the design of the table legs and the size of your preferred chairs.
A table with a central leg design can fit more chairs around it, but there may be some loss of leg room for the diners sitting level with the table leg. On the other hand, a table with two or four legs will slightly reduce the amount of usable chair space, but is great for maximising stability and leg room for all.
We suggest choosing the table design that best reflects your unique style, and then using our size guides (found on all product pages). If space is restricted, you can either choose a dining chair that’s not too wide, or consider a bench for one side of the table as benches are generally an efficient way to seat more people – a wooden bench will also enhance the rustic feel.
