WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
WHAT SIZE SHOULD A 14 SEATER DINING TABLE BE?
We have two size recommendations for a 14 seater dining table. If you plan to seat one person at each end of the table, we suggest a 4000mm x 1100mm table (diagram below). This allows the appropriate 600mm per diner, with the recommended 200mm extra space at each end, ensuring everyone has enough space.
If you’re planning to seat two diners at each end, we suggest a 3400mm x 1300mm table (diagram below). This also follows the above recommendations.
WHAT SIZE SHOULD A 16 SEATER DINING TABLE BE?
Again, we have two size recommendations for a 16 seater dining table. If you plan to seat one person at each end of the table, we suggest a 4600mm x 1100mm table (diagram below). This allows the appropriate 600mm per diner, with the recommended 200mm extra space at each end, ensuring everyone has enough space.
If you’re planning to seat two diners at each end, we suggest a 4000mm x 1300mm table (diagram below). This also follows the above recommendations.
WHAT SIZE SHOULD A 18 SEATER DINING TABLE BE?
For 18 seater dining tables, we suggest either two or three people at each end. In line with this, we have two size recommendations.
If you would like to seat two people at either end, we suggest a 4600mm x 1300mm table (diagram below). This allows the appropriate 600mm per diner, with the recommended 200mm extra space at each end, ensuring everyone has enough space.
If you’d like three diners at each end, we suggest a 4000mm x 1900mm table (diagram below). This also follows the above recommendations.
EXTRA LARGE 14 16 18 SEATER DINING TABLES
At Abacus Tables, we have an extensive selection of extra large dining tables. Our 14, 16 and 18 seater options provide plenty of room for all of your guests.
Not only do we custom-build our tables to your exact size specifications, but we also offer a range of beautiful designs that are ideal for bigger dining tables with ample seating room. Our central base models, for example, allow you to fit extra chairs around the table, while also offering visually stunning results.
With the capability to tailor both the dimension and style of your dining table, you can be sure that it will not only reflect your individual style but also fit perfectly within your home and meet all of your daily needs.
14, 16 AND 18 SEAT DINING TABLE & CHAIRS
We have a range of beautiful 14, 16 and 18 dining chair sets, which have all been carefully selected to complement our table designs. To make sure your table is sized correctly to accommodate all of your diners, it’s important to consider both the design of the table legs and the size of the chairs.
A table with a central base enables you to fit more chairs around it, but the diners sitting level with the base may lose some leg room. Conversely, a table with either two or four legs will reduce the amount of usable chair space slightly, but is great for maximising stability and leg room for all diners.
Which option is best for you depends on what works best for your space and also how the design matches your style preferences. Make use of our size guides (found on all product pages), or get in touch and we’ll help you to calculate how large the table needs to be to comfortably seat 14, 16 or 18 diners.
If space is restricted, a good solution can be to either choose a dining chair that’s not too wide, or consider a bench for one or both sides of the table – benches are generally an efficient way to seat more people.
