RUSTIC EUROPEAN OAK
Our Rustic European Oak tops are full of natural character and knots, with contrasting colour tones and oak’s trademark long flowing grain patterns running the full length and thickness of the table. Each top is made from multiple pieces, with a width of a 80-150mm each, seamlessly jointed together into a single piece table top
All European Oak is not Created Equally…
European Oak means any oak grown in Europe that is not French Oak. It is not regulated, which means it could be any Oak species, grown in any location such as Germany, England, Eastern Europe… (I’m not going to list every non-French European country). It can be from a tree of any age, from any part of the tree, seasoned and dried according to no particular guidelines and with a very simple grading system that results in a wide variation in character features (knots etc).
Even more so than with French Oak, the furniture maker is your guardian angel when it comes to European Oak because of the large variation in quality. If a furniture maker has confidence in their timber supplier they will provide you with a solid guarantee on its longevity and happily correct any issues that may arise from wood movement.
Aftercare & Guarantee
Our European Oak tops are made from extremely high quality oak that has taken many years for us to source, prepared correctly to the degree that we’re happy to include our robust guarantee and aftercare service.
There are other seemingly similar alternatives that we could buy for around a fifth of the cost, but these do not meet our strict criteria. Put simply, we will only use materials that are of the highest quality, and that we are confident you will never need to replace.
Our comprehensive guarantee and an aftercare service is in place to ensure that your furniture stays looking good and lasts you for a lifetime.
Durable Natural Finish
Each table is protected with a durable, high performance hard wax oil, robustly designed to protect solid oak flooring, but adapted for a furniture-grade finish. It performs very well, and if you do mark it, unlike wood-stained or lacquered surfaces, you can easily restore and refresh it.
