10 seater oak dining table

Our Classic Collection represents the more traditional oak framed dining table designs, but with a hint of contemporary. All of these work very well as 10 seaters.

what size should a 10 seater dining table be?

For the length of the table, as a general rule we’d recommend allowing 600mm per diner. If you’re planning to also seat people at the ends of the table, it’s a good idea to allow around 200mm of unused (or spare) space at each end to make sure that everyone has enough space.

For the width of the table, if you plan to seat one person at each end 1100mm works well. If you want to occasionally seat two at each end we recommend a width of 1200mm. If two at each end is a more regular occurrence, a 1300mm width is comfortable.

The sketch below shows two sizes that will work well for a 10 seater dining table:

10 seater dining table and chairs

We offer a range of carefully selected dining chairs to complement the style of our tables. To make sure your table is sized correctly to accommodate 10 diners, it’s important to consider both the design of the table legs and the size of your preferred chairs.

A table with a central leg design will enable you to fit more chairs around the table, but the compromise is generally a loss of foot space for the diners sitting level with the table leg.

A table with either two or four legs will reduce the amount of usable chair space slightly, but is great for maximising stability and foot space for all diners.

My recommendation would be to choose the table design that you think will work best for your space, then use our size guides (which you can find on all product pages), or get in touch and we’ll help you to calculate how large the table needs to be to comfortably seat 10. If space is restricted, a good solution can be to either choose a dining chair that’s not too wide, or consider a bench for one side of the table as benches are generally an efficient way to seat more people.

8-10 seater dining tables

If you’re only looking for an occasional 10 person dining table, a comfortable 8 seater may work well if the design allows to you squeeze in an additional two chairs.

My recommendation for this scenario would generally be to choose a table width that works well for one at each end (isn’t too wide), but can accommodate two if needed.

1100mm is a width that will work, but 1200mm is better if you have the space. Again, the table leg design and width of chairs are important considerations here.

Generally speaking, 2200 x 1200mm is a great size for an 8 to 10 seater dining table. For this arrangement you would seat 3 down each side and either 1 or 2 at each end. If you have a longer space with limited width, 2600 x 1000mm may work well.

Please let in touch if you’d like to discuss style and sizing options and we’ll help you to create your perfect 10 seater Abacus dining table that will last you for a lifetime.
