IS STANDARD OR STATEMENT OAK BEST FOR YOU?

We’ve got two different kinds of oak here at Abacus: our Standard Oak and our Statement Oak. Both of them are French Oak, the highest quality oak in the world—the way it has been grown and seasoned is to the highest standard. So, it really is the ultimate oak quality in terms of the material itself.

In terms of the finish, both come with our Induro finish, which has the highest surface quality and the highest level of protection possible.

STANDARD OAK

The main difference between the tops is that narrower pieces of oak make up a Standard Oak top. This means there are differences in colour between the pieces, so there is more of a contrast, and some pieces will have more character than others. So overall, it’s more of a mix in appearance, making it a more characterful style of top.

STATEMENT OAK

The Statement Oak is made out of wider pieces of oak (again, from the same tree). So you’ve got a harmonious colour going right across the surface and a real consistency in character as well.

THE RIGHT OAK FOR YOU

In terms of which one’s right for you, if you’re simply looking for a really good quality material to match the other oak in your house, it doesn’t get much better quality and value than our Standard Oak tops. It really is a brilliant choice.

However, if you want a statement piece with a real wow factor, very few tables are made in the style of our Statement Oak. It has a more impressive look, and you can also choose to go with a more chunky 52mm thick or 65mm thick top instead of the 40mm thick of the Standard Oak. So, you can go with a more chunky top with wider pieces, resulting in a real wow factor.
