WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
In this video, John explains everything you need to about our Resin Infused Pippy Oak, and walks you through each customisation option.
He covers important details such as oak selection, resin colours, finish options, and reveals how we turn this stunning oak into a durable, functional surface.
Resin tables are the most challenging tables to get right, as they are made from timber that is highly susceptible to splitting and warping. What’s more, it’s easy to make a resin table that looks impressive at first glance, but it is extremely difficult to make one that holds up under scrutiny (without unsightly scratches, bubbles, and imperfections).
We strongly recommend reading this article for more information about splitting and warping and essential things to look out for when buying a timber table of any kind.
We have refined our process over the years to offer resin tables that are among the most impactful, impressive pieces in the world. Not only do they hold up under close scrutiny, but our comprehensive processes are specifically designed to prevent splitting and warping.

ABACUS VS THE ALTERNATIVES
Why buy an Abacus Resin Table when there are cheaper options?
We have made a video comparing an Abacus Resin Table with one from another workshop.

THE MOST SOUGHT-AFTER TIMBER IN THE WORLD
We only use the rarest and most sought-after timbers in the world for our resin-infused tables. These slabs are often hundreds of years old and are all incredibly special in their own right.
The history of the timber is also paramount – its age, where it was grown, when it was felled, and most importantly, how it has been seasoned. Read this article to understand why this is critically important.
We will discuss your preferences during a consultation, including edge style, character level, colours, and features. All of this will be incorporated into the sourcing process, and the slab options we present for your approval will be tailored to your personal style.
DE-GASSING THE TIMBER FOR A FLAWLESS FINISH
To avoid bubbles in the resin, a rigorous de-gassing process is essential, ensuring that no air escapes as the resin hardens. The result is a finish that’s as close to perfection as possible, the clarity and quality of which speaks for itself.
ENCASED AND PRESERVED IN RESIN
These table tops are fully encased and preserved in resin for a perfectly smooth and seamless surface, with no ridges between the resin and timber.
This process protects these ancient slabs and preserves their beauty for generations. It helps to prevent the timber from releasing and taking in moisture, which can lead to severe splitting and warping issues and commonly occurs when the resin is confined to the river or infill area.
EMBEDDED STEEL STIFFENERS
We install hidden steel stiffeners in every tabletop to further control timber movement. These are not ordinary stiffeners. They are specifically designed for our resin tables and are a result of rigorous testing and countless iterations over the years.
This is yet another important detail to mitigate the hugely challenging problem of wood movement, but for your complete peace of mind, all of our resin tables come with our comprehensive Wood Movement Warranty to ensure that they don’t crack, split, twist, or warp, and will stay looking spectacular for generations.
ULTRA-PROTECTIVE CERAMIC COATING
Conventional resin tables scratch very easily as uncoated resin is relatively soft. To combat this, we use the very best ceramic coating available (we’ve tested them all). This coating provides an invisible but incredibly durable protective layer, so you can use and enjoy the table without worrying about the surface scratching and staining.
WOOD MOVEMENT WARRANTY
Despite going to extreme lengths to avoid wood movement issues, it’s impossible to eliminate the risk of some natural movement as the timber acclimatises to your home. As such, you’re fully covered by our Wood Movement Warranty, a key element of our aftercare service.
If you have any wood movement issues within two years of owning the table (any movement will happen well within this period), we’ll bring the table back to our workshop for a full refurbishment. We will also leave you with a courtesy table in the meantime.
Please be aware that many companies offer guarantees that they do not have the experience or ability to fulfil.
