I love this dining set (almost as much as the customer!). A lot of research went into achieving the matt black finish – black wood stains and dyes just look terrible on oak, they seem to make it look dirty. The client wanted a solid black colour but with the texture of the grain showing through. Conventional lacquers have very poor durability and show scratches very easily but we finally arrived a combination of black and matt finish with the exact look and practicality demanded by an every-day dining table. The combination of matt black and Dekton Kelya for the centre-piece was entirely the inspiration of the client and it looks fantastic. The benches were designed to be space-saving, tucking neatly away between the table legs when not in use.
