What is Dekton?

Dekton is a sintered stone – a man made surface that’s made by exposing natural materials to conditions that mimic the extreme temperatures and pressures deep underground, in a similar process to that used in the production of synthetic diamonds.

Dekton VS Marble & Granite

Marble can look good, but isn’t an ideal surface for dining tables that are used regularly; it is porous so it requires annual resealing (ideally done by a professional) and is prone to staining, which in many cases cannot be repaired. It is also relatively soft, so can scratch and chip easily with cutlery and jewellery, as well as the surface easily tarnishing / etching with food acids such as Lemon juice.

Granite is a lot tougher than marble, so better stain resistance and a lot better scratch and chip resistance. It also has good heat resistance which means less likely to crack with hot plates / dishes etc. on the surface. But there are a couple of downsides to granite: firstly, like marble, it is porous (although not as much) so it can stain and will need resealing once a year to prolong its life. Secondly, there’s a large amount of colour tone and pattern variation, so it’s difficult to predict how the finished piece will look.

A Dekton surface offers incredibly durability with zero maintenance. It will retain it’s stunning aesthetics indefinitely, no matter what you (or the children) throw at it.

Pair with European or Premium French Oak

On either side of your Dekton, you can choose either our European Oak (each side being made from several pieces of oak which are joined together), or Premium French Oak (each side being made from a single wide slab).

Both oak types very well – the Premium French Oak grain pattern will be flowing and unbroken, with more consistent colour tones, whereas the European Oak will have more variation in colour tone and grain pattern as each side is made from several narrower pieces.
